The Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Society is thrilled to announce that Honourable Danielle Smith, Premier of Alberta, will join the community for the Agra Fair 2024 at the Agrena-Central Park in Spruce Grove, Alberta. The Premier will be attending Saturday afternoon of the weekend August 24-25, 2024. This annual event promises a weekend filled with family-friendly activities celebrating the region’s rich agricultural history and vibrant community spirit.
The Agra Fair traces its origins back to the founding of the Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Heritage Society in 1972. What began as a local initiative supported by federal and provincial funding to build the Agrena has blossomed into a beloved tradition that connects urban and rural lifestyles. This year’s fair, marking its revival in 2022 on the Society’s 50th anniversary, continues to uphold its commitment to preserving local heritage and supporting agriculture and horticulture.
“We are honored to welcome Premier Danielle Smith to the Agra Fair 2024.” said Teresa Bateman, President of the Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Heritage Society. “Her presence underscores the importance of events like ours in celebrating Alberta’s agricultural legacy and fostering community pride and connection.”
The weekend’s festivities include a traditional fair bench show, a customary pancake breakfast, a lively parade, entertainment for all ages, local food vendors, and a multicultural picnic on Sunday to culminate the celebrations. The Agra Fair not only showcases local sponsors, producers, and artisans but also offers an opportunity for residents of the tri-region and visitors alike to come together and enjoy the best of Spruce Grove’s agricultural offerings.
